Seawater Globe Valves
Globe Valves are operated by turning a handwheel, this handwheel is located on a threaded stem (Rising or Non Rising, Inside / Outside screw) which connects to a plug device. On operation the plug (disc) is lifted out of the path of the fluid (Seawater). When fully open, the globe valve has a slight obstruction in the flow path due to the design (to accomodate the plug). Globe Valves get their name from the design of thier body which is globe shaped.
Globe valves are ideal for regulating (throttling) the flow of liquids and open much quicker then gate valves making them an ideal solution when frequent operation
Bonnets (Covers - top half of the valve) provide leakproof
closure for the valve body. Globe valves bonnets come
in various configurations some may have
•Union Cover / Bonnet
•Bolted Cover / Bonnet
Union bonnet is suitable for applications requiring frequent
inspection and cleaning. It also gives the body added
strength. Bolted bonnet are mainly used for larger valves
and higher pressure applications.
Globe valves can have flanged ends which are drilled according to pipeline compatible flange dimensional standards, although screwed and butt weld ends are also available
The ideal material for seawater is Nickel Aluminium Bronze because of its excellent corrosion fatigue and galvanic corrosion in comparason to austenitic and duplex stainless steels.
